Bourke Showgirls fly the flag

Despite the cancellation of the Bourke Show this year due to the drought, the Bourke Showgirl competition is going ahead, and it promises to add some glamour to Bourke’s social calendar.

Emily Bowden and Charlotte Davis are competing in the Bourke Showgirl competition, reviving a long tradition that has been one of the highlights of the agricultural show culture for decades.

The competition hasn’t been held in Bourke for four years and Showgirl Coordinator Grace Murray said she was keen to make sure this year saw the event revived.

“It is a really positive thing for the competitors and for the community,” Grace said.
