Politicians beat a path to Bourke

Bourke will host three state government Ministers and a Shadow Minister this week, the latest in a long list of politicians to tour the region.

NSW Special Minister of State, Minister for the Public Service and Employee Relations, Aboriginal Affairs, and the Arts, Don Harwin will tour Bourke and meet with stakeholders to see firsthand how the Maranguka Justice Reinvestment program operates, as well as meeting with Bourke Shire councillors and other organisations in the shire.

Attorney General Mark Speakman will also be visiting Bourke along with Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women Bronwyn Taylor.

Also visiting Bourke this week was Shadow Minister for Water, Innovation, Science and Tertiary Education Clayton Barr who met with Mayor Barry Hollman and General Manager Ross Earl on Wednesday.

Mr Earl said it was encouraging to see the number of State Government Ministers take the opportunity to visit Bourke and see for themselves the issues impacting on the town, particularly water security and the impact of drought, as well as the economic opportunities that exist in the region.
