Lawn Bowls – “A” Day Bowls a big success

It was on a beautiful sunny, wintery Saturday that our Bourke ‘A’ Day Bowls tournament returned as a part of NAIDOC celebrations at the Bourke Bowling Club

Although we had only fourteen teams of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and women playing triples, the enthusiasm and enjoyment that everyone showed, had more than equalled previous ‘A’ Days.

I must thank all bowlers who turned up on the day and in particular those who filled in at the last moment. Playing for some great prizes, there was fierce competition in all games throughout the day.

On offer for the winners were a morning and afternoon prize, the Francis (Slapper) Bye Memorial Runners-up trophy and the Keith Martin Memorial overall winner’s trophy. A list and photo’s of all winners appear elsewhere in this edition.
