Acclaimed outback photographer to judge 2019 Life & Light Competition

July 11, 2019

Highly acclaimed outback photographer, Fiona Lake will bring more than 30 years of experience to the table when she helps to judge the 2019 Life and Light in the Western Region Photo Competition.

Ms Lake, who has had an interest in photography since she got her first small film camera in primary school more than 40 years ago, is passionate about using photography to tell a story, as opposed to simply taking nice looking pictures.“As much as I love photographing beauty, I have only ever been interested in creating images that have a purpose and tell a story,” Ms Lake said.“

The great thing with the Life and Light competition is you have such amazing landscapes, people, animals and so forth to photograph and tell their story.” The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Beyond the dust’ and it is hoped that submissions will include both agricultural and environmental perspectives. Entrants are reminded that photos must be taken in the Western Local Land Services region and submitted by 14 July 2019. All photos must be submitted through www.lifeandlight.com.au which also has all the information, frequently asked questions, entry rules and more about the competition

Photographers will have a chance to win their part of $4,000 in prize money which will be split across the following categories:

• Colour (open age, secondary student and primary student divisions).

• Black and white (open age, secondary student and primary student divisions).
