Outback Challenge brings fun and footy to Bourke

The Outback Challenge has grown into one of the most important Junior Rugby League fixtures on the calendar, not just for the standard of play on the field but for the sense of community it embraces across the region.

Coordinator Margaret Gordon launched the Outback Challenge 14 years ago to give youngsters in remote communities and on properties the opportunity to compete against other junior league teams in a gala event.

The Outback Challenge is now one of the best-attended and popular sporting events for young players in the Far West, but Margaret said the Gala Day was not just about the footy.
