A workshop held in Bourke last week heard of the urgent need for foster parents in Bourke.
The workshop, at Diggers on the Darling was run by My Forever Family, an organisation funded by the Department of Family and Community Services to encourage and train people to become carers for young local children in need.
Head of Advocacy and Operations Peter Goslett said he was encouraged by the response and hoped more people would now consider fostering.
The workshop was part of a road show travelling across Western New South Wales to provide training to current carers in the out of home care system and as a recruitment drive to encourage people to apply.
“There’s a significant lack of carers in NSW generally, but in particular in the western region,” Mr Goslett said.
