When grazier Gordon Mooring posted a video on social media showing water flowing over the Louth Weir, he couldn’t have expected the response from far beyond the drought ravaged far west.
The images of the Darling River flowing again are in stark contrast to the relentless theme of parched paddocks and dry riverbeds.
Gordon said while there was still a long way to go, seeing the water flowing again had changed the mood of communities along the river.
Gordon and his family run Rose Isle Station and like almost everyone else on the land, they have struggled over the past three years through relentless drought.
“While I was filming the water over the weir, it started raining again, which was great,” he said.
