Fish deaths at North Bourke

The recent rainfall and a sudden temperature drop are believed to be the cause of fish deaths in the Darling River at North Bourke last week.

Council staff found hundreds of dead fish and others showing signs of stress in the isolated pool near the North Bourke boat ramp on Wednesday morning.

The small fish kill mostly affected hundreds of juvenile Bony Bream — a native species that is susceptible to rapid drops in temperature.
