Outback Trout Challenge puts fish in the swimming pool

The Darling River may be at its lowest ebb for more than 40 years but that sis not going to dampen the enthusiasm of Bourke’s Ain’t Caught Nuffin’ Fishing Club.

Rather than abandon their sport but keen to protect the fish remaining in the river, the club has come up with a novel idea which will enable the community to experience trout fishing – from the Bourke Swimming Pool.

Club Secretary Tracey Coyne said the Outback Trouth Challenge on June 22 would mean the Club could raise much-needed funds, keen fishers could throw in a line and everyone could enjoy a day’s fishing, despite the drought.

“We held our club meeting at the weekend and made the decision to do something different so we’ve come up with the Outback Trout Challenge,” Tracey said.

“It’s going to be a full day event with activities for kids, families and anyone who wants to come along.
