Next week’s Western Division Conference in Bourke will be one of the most important in local government for decades as the region faces the tough reality of prolonged drought and water shortages.
More than 150 delegates, from sixteen western NSW councils will attend, together with officers from various state and federal agencies.
NSW Water Minister Niall Blair will officially open the conference.
Mr Blair is also NSW Minister for Primary Industries, Trade and Industry, and is expected to outline the government’s approach to handling the present difficult drought conditions.
