Fordsy beat Bre in close contest Samuelsson guides Colts to victory

Round 9 of the Morralls Bakery Cup saw Brewarrina host Fordsy in a high scoring game, with Fordsy coming away with the win.
Brewarrina batted first and put on 179 runs with their opening batsman C. Bell batting for 35 overs and making 86.
Fordsy’s bowlers struggled to contain the opener in Bell, until the end when D. Harris came on to bowl, taking 5/14 off 3 overs, finishing Brewarrina’s innings.
In reply Fordsy lost an early wicket and the Brewarrina opening bowling partnership of Dean Hambly and Kimbo Parker contained the Fordsy batsmen. Fordsy went to drinks at 3/61.
Brewarrina’s bowlers kept it tight in the middle overs with Fordsy only losing one wicket and going to 2nd drinks at 4/113. Fordsy went back out and made the final runs with just two overs to spare. Fordsy’s best batsmen were Phil Cross with 73 not out and Anthony Azevedo 24. Brewarrina’s best bowlers were Kimbo Parker 1/9 off 8 overs and Dean Hambly 1/18 off 8 overs.
The other game saw Colts host Two Waterholes at Davidson Oval in what was Colts Sponsors and Ladies Day. Two Waterholes won the toss and batted first. They lost a couple of early wickets with some tight bowling from the Colts opening bowlers, Jono Whitbread and Brendan Shailes. Read more in the printed edition of the Western Herald.
