Khalanh cottons on to top ginning job

When Khalanh Orcher left Bourke High School at the age of 18, he knew he had to find a job but in a small community like Bourke he knew it wouldn’t be easy.

So he walked into the office of the North Bourke Packing Shed and asked for one.

The packing shed boss – Sam Buster was so impressed by Khalanh – he hired him on the spot.

Khalanh is now 27, head ginner at Rivcott Ginning in Carrathool in southern NSW, with a long and successful career ahead of him.

“I knocked on the door of Sam’s office, first time I’d ever applied for a job so I was a little bit nervous because it was all new to me,” Khalanh said. Read more in the printed edition of the Western Herald.
