Good news for woolgrowers – but where are the sheep?

Record wool prices are welcome good news for graziers, who finally have something to smile about despite the tough dry conditions. The bad news is that many farmers in the Far West have abandoned sheep farming due to drought and wild dogs.

Wool prices have reached an all-time high of more than two thousand cents a kilo on the market indicator.

Wool Area Manager for Landmark Craig French says Merino wool prices have skyrocketed because there is heavy demand and short supply.
