Retracing the steps of Indigenous Anzacs
Anzac tradition is one that strikes deep for Australians and is honoured on April 25th in every town and community across the nation. For Joe Flick from Collarenebri, this year is a particularly important one in the history of the Anzacs.
2018 is the centenary of the end of the Great War. It is 100 years ago that Australian soldiers fought a bloody battle at a French village called Villers Bretonneux, fighting off a German invasion over three horrific days.
Among the fallen Australian soldiers were a number of local indigenous men and since 2014, Joe, senior officer with the Local Aboriginal Lands Council, has been retracing their history on behalf of their families. Photo: Supplied
