Welcome to Bourke and the Great Outback!

The Western Herald has seen numerous technological changes over its 130-year history and this week we finally take another small step into the digital age with the launch of this, our first website.

We apologise to those who have enquired, but we still have no immediate plans for putting our entire paper online for digital subscriptions. However, our shift into the digital world will be ongoing and innovative, and as we move forward this website will feature selected stories, photo galleries and material unique to the outback in general and Bourke in particular.
